Soda Ash

Soda ash is a white hygroscopic powder with the formula Na2CO3. The purpose of soda ash is to increase the pH level in a dye bath. The powder is easily soluble in warm water and is used in combination with a wash fast dye, such as reactive dyes Procion MX, Indigo or Drimarene-K.Soda ash is used in techniques such as: fabric dyeing, tie-dye, screen printing and batik.

Soda ash dissolved in water becomes a lye (alkaline) and is therefore perfect for dyeing all cellulose fibres.

Soda ash is non-toxic and biodegradable.
Soda ash, like all powders, is dangerous if inhaled and may irritate the skin.
